1. EXPERT DEGREE IN VIDEO GAME TRANSLATION AND LOCALIZATION
The Expert Degree in Translation and Localization is offered by the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción (ISTRAD).
The main objective of the Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization is to offer university graduates detailed and specific training in video game localization techniques related to the translation stage itself and the use of the most important software. The program is essentially of a practical nature and consists of 45 ECTS credits with each credit being equivalent to 25 teaching hours.
3. LANGUAGES USED
The following are the working languages for the Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization: Spanish, English, German and Italian. Applicants can choose the language pair they wish to work with and will be given a specific study program for the desired language combination.
Studies will take place during the 2018-2019 academic year with classes beginning on October 15, 2018, and ending on June 30, 2019.

6. DEADLINES FOR REGISTRATION
There will be three periods to complete registration:
1st registration period: May 15 to June 10, 2018
2nd registration period: June 15 to July 10, 2018
3rd registration period: September 15 to October 15, 2018
Those interested in the course can send in their registration form during any of the registration periods. Registration can be done via the registration form available at www.locvjuegos.com, or directly at the offices of the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción (between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Friday). Once the registration period is over, the students accepted to the course will be notified of their admission via email, and the necessary documentation for enrollment will be sent via email or mail (according the student’s preferences).
7. ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
To enroll in the Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization it will be necessary:
- to complete the pre-registration procedure within the time period established and be accepted to the course, in accordance with the previous paragraph.
- to possess a university degree or certify having completed at least 120 credits of a university degree.
8. MODES OF STUDY
The Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization can be completed onsite or online:
Onsite mode: Onsite classes will be held from October 2018 through June, 2019. Classes will take place in the morning every Thursday at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción (Seville). Completing these onsite sessions will be mandatory.
Distance mode:the distance mode will consist of the administration for the Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization sending materials specifically created by the faculty including the content for each subject, a detailed explanation of the computer application used for the program, translation and localization strategy, necessary programming knowledge for video game translation and localization, lexical registers, updated bibliography, etc. The distance program will be completed from October 2018 through June 2019.
Throughout the duration of the course students will be able to use free downloads of programs and/or demo versions available on the web.
Students will also have access to a telephonic and electronic tutoring schedule with different professors and advisors in order to address any doubts related to the completion of tasks and translations as well as to exchange impressions about the use of software, the techniques practiced in each module and corrections to the work completed.
The distribution of content and materials corresponding to the different levels and subjects will be done following the dates established in the schedule for studies, which students will receive when enrolling in the course. This schedule will also provide the deadlines for students to submit tasks and the dates corrections will be returned by the faculty.
9. ASSIGNING ADVISORS
Once students have been accepted to and have enrolled in the program, they will be assigned an academic advisor who is a professional within the video game translation and localization industry. This advisor will be available to resolve any doubts or problems related to the studies. They will also be available for any questions related to their professional work in translation as well as any professional activity outside the course.
10. COURSE START DATE
The online sessions (distance mode) will begin October 16, 2018 and run uninterrupted throughout the entire 2018-2019 academic course until June 2019. Onsite sessions will take place from October 2018 through June 2019 at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción ISTRAD (Seville), as previously indicated.
Each level of the course corresponds to a module of study. The Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization is comprised of the following levels of play:

Level 3: The Localizer’s Inventory
Level 4: The Video Game Development Phase
Level 5: The Subtitling and Dubbing Phase
Level 6: The Testing Phase
Level 7: Packaging, Promotion and Additional Material
Level 8: Video Game Development and Marketing for Mobile Devices
Level 9: Project Management in the Video Game Sector
Level 10: The Professional Sector and Video Games
Final Practical Project: Final Boss
12. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Having a computer with windows is recommended to complete the online course as all of the existing programs and applications for projects are configured to be used with this operating system.
13. FINAL PRACTICAL PROJECT (FINAL BOSS)
Students enrolled in the program will need to complete a Final Practical Project on a subject related to video game translation and localization. This module will consist of the localization of a complete video game in the student’s working language combination. To do so, students will need to localize all of the translatable elements of the video game: menus, dialogues, guides and other elements of the game. Students will also complete testing, with the corresponding report in order to guarantee the quality of the video game in all aspects related to the target language. This game and its elements have been created exclusively by ISTRAD for the Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization, have a practical nature and are not for profit or sale.
14. AWARDING OF POSTGRADUATE DEGREE
Following the conclusion of studies, the Academic Committee of the Expert Degree in Video Game Translation and Localization will personally award the following documents:
1. "Expert in Video Game Translation and Localization" certificate issued by the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción with detailed information on the reverse side regarding the various modules studied.
2. Detailed transcript of records of the student's performance in each of the modules studied (both certificates and modules) with a description of the competences and skills acquired.
15. REGISTRATION FEES AND PAYMENT PLAN
The total cost of the program is 900 euros. This price can be paid all at once or in three installments distributed as follows:

This cost includes all administrative fees related to enrollment and issuing the certificate and accrediting final documentation.
16. PROLONGING STUDIES
Those students who require it for work, professional or personal reasons will have the opportunity to prolong studies by being granted one (1) additional year, until September 30, 2020 and will register for the number of credits which must be completed.
